There may be a new Peugeot 208 GTi (pictured) but no 208 CC or SW
Peugeot has revealed that there will be no CC (Convertible) or SW (estate) versions of the new 208, but a 2008 SUV/Crossover is expected. The new Peugeot 208 has a weight of expectations resting on its new shoulders, with Peugeot finding sales harder to come by and hoping the new 208 may rekindle some of the sales fire the 205 had. So you’d think it would make sense to fill every possible niche imaginable with the 208, including spinning off various iterations in the style of MINI.
Cadillac CTS Coupe gets official unveil at the LA Auto Show
It’s not long since GM revealed that the CTS was going to spawn a Coupe version to go with the Estate (station Wagon), and even less time since we learned there is a going to be a Coupe version of the CTS-V – the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe. Which is now one step closer to reality with the official reveal of the CTS Coupe at the Los Angeles Motor Show, following on from the CTS Coupe announcement last week. Due to go on sale in Spring 2010 (I suppose we’re back to US model years – does that make it a 2011 CTS Coupe?), the CTS Coupe takes the oily bits from the saloon/sedan and puts them in to a very convincing, muscular coupe that sits lower and wider than its four-door sibling.
Volkswagen has revealed the VW Taigun at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil, a very compact SUV based on the VW Up! The Taigun is 3859mm long and 1728mm wide, making it a chunk smaller than the next VW SUV up (the Tiguan) and smaller even than Nissan’s Juke, but it gets an extra 50mm in the wheelbase compared to the Up so interior room looks decent. Vw say the Taigun is purposely designed to look just like a mini-me Tiguan or Touareg (and sound like one too) with its very similar styling, high ride height, skid plates and roof rails with an interior that offers room for four and enough spce for 280 litre of stuff in the boot (a plentiful 987 litres with the back seats folded).
